DigitalOcean's Developer Content Team creates written and multimedia content that delights developers and empowers them to grow on DigitalOcean. Our Community Site provides developers with high-quality tutorials and guides on SysAdmin and DevOps topics, including Ubuntu, Java, Python, and other cloud infrastructure and AI/ML topics.
We're looking for a Senior Manager who will also be India Lead of Developer Content to lead a team responsible for reviewing, maintaining, and optimizing our extensive library of technical tutorials. This role requires a technical leader with an engineering background who understands developer workflows, has experience coding, and can drive content quality, accuracy, and discoverability.
What You'll Do:Technical Content Management & Optimization- Oversee the review, validation, and maintenance of technical tutorials on topics like Ubuntu server administration, cloud infrastructure, DevOps automation, Java, Python, and Linux-based deployments.
- Ensure all technical content is up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with best practices in cloud computing and open-source technologies.
- Validate code samples, update outdated tutorials, and rewrite content for clarity and relevance.
- Optimize tutorials for SEO and search discoverability while maintaining developer-friendly readability and the high quality DigitalOcean is known for.
- Define content quality standards and best practices to ensure tutorials meet both technical and editorial excellence.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of developer content specialists focused on the maintenance of existing content.
- Ensure your team is following existing content review processes and workflows, and suggesting improvements to streamline updates and validation.
- Work cross-functionally with our SEO team and other Developer Content teams to align our content maintenance strategy with other content areas and growth needs.
- Set and track team KPIs and establish systems to track team outputs and the performance of maintained content.
- Implement tools and processes to streamline content validation and updates, ensuring high efficiency and accuracy.
- Technical background: Experience in SysAdmin, DevOps, or software engineering, with proficiency in Ubuntu, cloud computing, and scripting languages like Python or Bash preferred.
- Content expertise: Strong writing and editing skills with experience in technical content creation, developer documentation, or community-driven content.
- SEO & analytics knowledge: Familiarity with keyword research, search performance analysis, and content optimization strategies.
- Leadership experience: Proven ability to manage and grow a team of technical writers or content specialists.
- Highly organized: Ability to manage multiple content projects, prioritize effectively, and improve editorial workflows.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with distributed teams across time zones.
- Experience with Markdown and GitHub workflows for content publishing, including experience running a Git repository locally on your machine and running it through the terminal.
