The IP Core Engineer will be part of a team responsible for the operations and maintenance of the IP network supporting ISP, mobile, and other services. This includes routine checks, project execution, and network troubleshooting with other teams. The IP Core Engineer will perform daily operations and maintenance on all systems and support external departments to resolve faults and customer care issues within acceptable timeframes. This role requires strong knowledge and experience in IP/MPLS networks, including MPLS, VPLS, Multicast, Metro E Services, QoS, and MPLS-TE.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals.
  • Experience in configuring network routers and switches to implement IP Network design, including OSPF, MP-BGP, MPLS/VPLS, Traffic Engineering, and Quality of Service.
  • Ability to review Core IP Network infrastructure designs supporting services such as Broadband, IPTV, Metro E, Carrier-grade, and ISP services.
  • Experience with IP Transport Networks for broadband and mobile services.
  • Deep knowledge of IP Networks, OSPF, BGP, Multicast, MPLS, MPLS-TE, QoS, Cisco/Huawei/H3C equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with provisioning and troubleshooting Cisco/Huawei/H3C routers, including the ASR9k platform.
  • Training or mentoring experience is an asset.
  • Experience in designing and documenting Next Generation IP Networks.
  • Familiarity with protocols such as OSPF, HSRP, VRRP, MPLS, IPsec, GRE, PBR, and NAT.
  • Experience in designing and configuring QoS methods like CBWFQ, LLQ, and classification techniques.
  • Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Network Management applications and protocols.
  • Knowledge of IP address subnetting, address management, and IP architecture.
  • Experience with Optical Transport Networks.
  • Experience with Network Management systems such as Solarwinds or Cacti.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
  • BSc. Degree in Electrical/Communications Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 or 5 years of experience in a similar environment.
  • Training or mentoring experience is advantageous.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP & P).
  • An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
