Position ObjectivesThe primary objective of the Laboratory Technician position is to support the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by performing accurate and timely laboratory tests. This role aims to ensure the quality and reliability of laboratory results, contributing to effective patient care and medical research. By maintaining a high standard of laboratory practices, the Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare team, supporting clinical decisions and improving patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Contributes towards the overall goal and objectives of PRCS & work in align with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Principles.
- Adheres to the Security rules and procedures defined in PRCS code of conduct.
- Perform a wide range of laboratory tests on patient samples to assist in diagnosing diseases and monitoring treatment progress.
- Ensure precision and accuracy in all test results through meticulous attention to detail and adherence to protocols.
- Maintain regular communication and reporting line with team leaders FMO & MO.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.
- Conducting daily laboratory investigations of daily OPD prescribed by the MO and FMO.
- Implement and adhere to quality control procedures to maintain the reliability and validity of laboratory results.
- Handle and dispose of biohazardous materials following strict safety procedures.
- Performing Logistic supply, maintenance of cold chain and during outreach activities of mobile health teams (MHTs)
- Reporting of daily lab investigation to respective medical officers and concerned reporting officers at HQ also keep records of all the test done on daily basis.
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement strategies to enhance laboratory operations.
- Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of patient data and laboratory records.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain and enhance technical skills.
- Serve patients by preparing medications, giving pharmacological information to multidisciplinary health care teams, and monitoring patient drug therapies.
- Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
- Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
- Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.
- Maintains records for controlled substances and removes outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
B.Sc. with 02 years diploma in medical laboratory technology (MLT) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
ExperienceMinimum of 02 years working experience in laboratory investigations as Laboratory Technician or Pharmacist in reputable hospital or in a government project.
Skills / Knowledge- Strong coordination and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Flexibility to travel to perform Mobil health camps in the field.
- Excellent writing and reporting skills.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure, in challenging field environments, and with diverse teams.
- High integrity, accountability, and commitment to humanitarian principles.
- Language: Fluency in Urdu, Pashto, and English (spoken and written).
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and PRCS values.
- Accountability, transparency, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver quality results within deadlines.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing emergency contexts.

- Maximum age limit, up to 40 years.
- Extensive travelling/travel to field locations with MHT as required
