Aga Khan University - Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED) was established in July 1993 with the overall objective of becoming a leader in educational reform and improvement, especially in developing countries. The aim of the Institute is to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of schools and other educational institutions in the country through innovation, policy development, practice, training and research.

This is a grant-funded contractual position

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to:

• assist project team with teaching, developing course plans, preparing course presentations, and creating teaching-learning resources, while maintaining records and attendance and providing constructive feedback to students
• assist in creating, adapting, writing, translating, and designing teaching-learning materials, manuals, and guidebooks
• support the project team with literature reviews and sourcing educational resources for project activities
• provide management support to the principal investigator (PI) in planning, implementing, and monitoring all project activities
• provide administrative support for arranging meetings, training sessions, data collection, field visits, material purchases, and maintaining inventory
• coordinate with the project team and course participants for project-related activities
• support the PI in project-related documentation and logistical arrangements
• develop, manage, and maintain all project documents and reference materials
• assist in data collection, analysis, transcription, and data entry
• attend project meetings and respond to related correspondence.

Requirements

You should have:

• bachelor's degree (preferably in education); a master's will be an added advantage
• certificate or an advanced diploma in early childhood development or early childhood education
• at least one year experience in early childhood development and/or early childhood education
• understanding of early childhood development and learning, with the ability to apply this knowledge to plan, instruct, and assess effectively in diverse early learning settings
• proficiency in spoken and written Urdu and English
• strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
• ability to coordinate and support administrative tasks efficiently
• effective interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude, and the ability to work both independently and in teams
• passion for teaching and the ability to build trusting relationships with students
• proficiency in using relevant computer applications
• sound conceptual and analytical skills
• ability to be flexible, patient, and perform well under tight deadlines
• proactive, creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities
• familiarity with the geographical context of project locations
• willingness to travel across challenging areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral in all seasons.
