Introduction
The Medical College (MC) at Aga Khan University (AKU) seeks to make a positive impact across the health sector in Pakistan and the region. Allied health professionals support diagnosis, recovery, and quality of life. They provide direct patient care in virtually every specialty; deliver scientific support in clinical laboratories; offer numerous rehabilitation services; manage and provide data critical to seamless patient care and diagnosis; operate sophisticated diagnostic equipment; contribute to broader public health outcomes; provide critical care support in intensive care units; develop hospital and educational nutrition programs; and more. Keeping this in view, the Aga Khan University Medical College (AKU, MC) in collaboration with the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) seeks to establish an Allied Health program.
AKU, MC is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Associate Dean Allied Health to devise a strategic plan ensuring that the Allied Health service delivery is consistent with the vision and mission of the Aga Khan University. The primary responsibility of the Allied Health Assistant Manager is to support the Associate Dean Allied Health to ensure effective planning of training programs and services in collaboration with the hospital management team; as well as development and maximisation of stakeholder engagement opportunities.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Assistant Manager in the Office of Allied Health, Medical College.
Responsibilities
You are expected to hold an allied health portfolio aligned with contemporary knowledge of the health sector and community health services. The role draws on extensive high levels of specialist knowledge and demonstrated superior consolidated skills which will be required to plan, coordinate and develop high quality training programs and deliver professional care consistent with policies, procedures, and AKU values. The incumbent will be expected to work with multidisciplinary teams and support staff to reach their potential. The incumbent will also be expected to work towards acquiring international accreditation of the various allied health programs.
Specific responsibilities include:
- supporting the Associate Dean in planning and implementing the new vision and direction of allied health services
- implementing clinical governance and training frameworks ensuring best practices and safe quality systems
- working in collaboration with Business Managers, under the guidance of the Associate Dean to develop, implement and monitor clinical governance frameworks and practice principles across all disciplines
- working strategically with key stakeholders to engage and maximise community opportunities
- participating and contributing to the ongoing development of effective working relationships with other key services, building a strong collaborative practice approach with internal and external partners in service delivery
- working with finance and hospital management teams on budgeting and costing of the training programs and other support teams for operationalising the plan
- supporting senior leadership in strategic decision making and implementation
- ensuring the multi-disciplinary care model is embedded across the service ensuring community needs are identified and met
- supporting the management of quality, risk, safety, feedback, complaints and identify opportunities for improvement
- maintaining an advanced standard of knowledge in relevant clinical areas through participation in professional development and/or research activities, with a commitment to improving professional performance whilst maintaining professional standards and ethics
- any other duties as directed by the Associate Dean.
Requirements:
You should have:
- a Master's degree in a health care profession including one of the Allied Health Professions or Nursing
- a minimum of 4 -5 years in a clinical role and supervisory experience ideally in an organisation of similar size, complexity and diversity, is required
- demonstrated Allied Health management experience
- experience managing multidisciplinary/transdisciplinary teams and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to achieve agreed deliverables
- strong leadership skills to support staff from a variety of disciplines
- an innovative approach to identify opportunities
- sound project management skills
- demonstrated understanding of clinical and professional governance
- demonstrated competence with outstanding written and oral communication skills including report writing, problem solving and analysis, communication, negotiation and interpersonal interaction, presentation, clinical supervision and computer literacy in a Microsoft environment
- well-developed interpersonal skills with a strong patient focus and the ability to establish and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders
- demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and objectives while maintaining objectivity and professionalism.
