LECTURER ENGLISH

Seeking a dynamic and experienced English Lecturer to join the college based in Chakwal, Akhuwat College for Women. The candidate must be knowledgeable and passionate about teaching English Language and Literature to BS students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate and grade students' course work, assignments, and papers.
  2. Prepare and conduct sessions with students on topics specified in the syllabi.
  3. Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
  4. Contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.
  5. Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
  6. Maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students.
  7. Supervise internships and students' research work.
  8. Keep abreast of developments in the field of English language/linguistics by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
  9. Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction, especially for the Literary club/committee.
  10. Encourage students to conduct research.
  11. Advise students on academic and vocational curricula, and on career issues.
  12. Select and obtain materials and supplies such as textbooks and online resources.
  13. Participate in student recruitment, registration, admission, examination, and placement activities.
  14. Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, administrative matters, and academic issues.
  15. Perform administrative duties when required, such as serving as department head.
  16. Design off-class assignments for the students which demand use of library and browsing.
  17. Search and recommend advanced reading material for students and provide it in the library for completing assignments and research.
  18. Participate in campus and community events.
  19. Perform duties as an Incharge as scheduled.
  20. Provide pastoral care and support to students.
  21. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor(s), characteristic of any residential institute, with the understanding that a residential institute has a different culture and off-class duties are routine.

English: Novels, short stories, plays, poems, prose, command over classical literature and criticism, language, functional grammar, syntax analysis, development of lexical items, morphological items, essay and letter writing, well-versed with and able to train students in dramatics, speech, and declamations.

Educational Qualification:

MS/MPhil Degree in English from an HEC recognized University/Institution.

Work Experience:

Minimum 3 years' experience of teaching BS students at the university level.
