UX Product Designer

Background

Revenue Mobilisation, Investment and Trade (REMIT) programme, funded by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and implemented by Adam Smith International (ASI) is a technical assistance program aimed at driving reforms that strengthen macroeconomic stability, foster sustained economic growth, promote mutual prosperity, create jobs, and reduce poverty. REMIT supports the Government of Pakistan, its ministries, and institutions in enhancing revenue mobilization, improving the investment climate, reducing trade barriers, and strengthening macroeconomic policy management.

REMIT is engaged with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in a multifaceted collaboration aimed at boosting taxpayer compliance. This includes redesigning various services in FBR's filing portal with a view to enhance service delivery and user experience. By adopting a Human-Centered Design (HCD) approach, REMIT's FBR Service Design Initiative (SDI) aims to streamline the taxpayer journey, broaden the tax base, and deliver world-class services for taxpayers, tax agents, and officials, ultimately increasing revenue collection and supporting Pakistan's economic objectives.

• Make FBR tax services more efficient

• Make FBR tax services more effective

• Create a seamless omni-channel FBR taxpayer experience

• Create trust with FBR taxpayers and improve FBR's brand

• Undertake organisational capacity building to improve FBR's service design capabilities

Job Summary

The UX Product Designer will transform service blueprints into wireframes, prototypes, and design patterns, ensuring seamless alignment with REMIT's service vision and FBR's strategic goals. Working closely with the Service Design Team, the UX Product designer will test UI/UX solutions with real users, rapidly iterate designs, and embed accessibility and 18F Digital Services Standards into every interaction. This role demands bridging high-level service concepts with tangible, user-friendly interfaces to turn complex workflows into intuitive digital experiences—validating hypotheses through research and refining designs for scalability.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and insights on the current state of services.

· Transform service blueprints, user journeys, and strategic requirements into high-fidelity wireframes, interactive prototypes, and UI design patterns.

· Rapidly iterate designs based on user feedback, analytics, and technical constraints.

· Collaborate with UX team to incorporate findings into UI improvements.

· Adhere to 18F Digital Services Standards and government-design best practices.

· Embed accessibility standards into all UI components

· Document accessibility decisions for developer handoff.

· Partner with service designers to ensure UI reflects service blueprints

· Standardize templates, components, and patterns for efficiency and consistency.

· Prepare detailed documentation of process changes and improvements.

Qualifications and Experience:

· Bachelor's/Master's in UX Design or related field (or equivalent practical experience)

· 3+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design of digital services.

· Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in UI translation, user testing and iterative design processes.

· Experience working with service designers to operationalise blueprints into UI.

· Proficiency in design software and tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Sketch).

· Strong understanding of user-centred design principles and web accessibility.

· Excellent visual design and layout skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Reporting

The "UX Product Designer" will report to REMT Tax Lead and REMIT Service Design Lead.
