Overview

As a Business Intelligence Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering advanced Power BI solutions that translate complex data into intuitive, interactive dashboards. You'll leverage your expertise in DAX, Power Query, and SQL to build robust data models, optimize performance, and ensure data integrity across reporting systems. Collaborating with stakeholders, you'll manage end-to-end ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory, integrate diverse data sources, and implement governance standards including row-level security. This role demands a sharp analytical mindset, strong communication skills, and a passion for turning data into impactful stories that drive business outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Power BI Expertise
  • Advanced expertise in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service for creating interactive dashboards and reports.
  • Strong command over DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for building calculated measures, KPIs, time-intelligence, and complex business logic.
  • Proficiency in Power Query (M language) for data transformation, cleansing, and shaping.
  • Skilled in data modeling with best practices: star schema, fact/dimension separation, relationships, hierarchies.
  • Experience with row-level security (RLS), deployment pipelines, governance, and report optimization in Power BI Service.
  • Ability to design advanced visualizations, drill-throughs, bookmarks, tooltips, and storytelling dashboards.
  • Database & Querying Skills
  • Strong knowledge of SQL (T-SQL preferred) for data extraction, manipulation, and aggregation.
  • Ability to write optimized queries, stored procedures, and functions for large and complex datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with query tuning, indexing, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with relational databases, joins, CTEs, temp tables, and complex query logic.
  • Understanding of data modeling concepts (star schema, snowflake schema) to support BI reporting.
  • Practical experience in Azure Data Factory (ADF) for building and managing ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Azure SQL Database, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, and Blob Storage.
  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources (on-prem databases, APIs, flat files, cloud apps) into a centralized warehouse.
  • Familiarity with incremental loads, error handling, pipeline scheduling, and monitoring in ADF.
  • Data Warehousing & BI Concepts
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse design principles and dimensional modeling.
  • Ability to work with large-scale data while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and data quality.
  • Knowledge of ETL best practices, BI lifecycle, and performance tuning for reporting systems.
  • Analytical & Communication Skills
  • Strong business understanding to translate stakeholder requirements into BI solutions.
  • Excellent analytical mindset for identifying patterns, insights, and trends from data.
  • Clear communication skills for presenting insights and collaborating across departments.
  • Nice-to-Have
  • Experience with Python/R for advanced analytics and integration with Power BI.
  • Exposure to Azure DevOps, Git, and CI/CD pipelines for BI projects.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in cross-functional teams.
