Flood Risk Mitigation Specialist

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Flood Risk Mitigation Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the flood risk component of the project, including conducting capacity needs assessments and developing gender-responsive training workshops.

You will work closely with stakeholders to gather insights and facilitate the gender assessment process. Additionally, you will develop inclusive, gender-responsive training modules and technical guidelines on Disaster Risk Management (DRM), Impact-Based Forecasting (IBF), climate change adaptation, natural resource management, and Anticipatory Actions (AA).

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the gender component of the project and conducting capacity needs assessments
  • Developing gender-responsive training workshops and materials
  • Facilitating the gender assessment process and gathering insights from stakeholders
  • Developing inclusive, gender-responsive training modules and technical guidelines on DRM, IBF, climate change adaptation, and AA

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional who can bring their expertise in flood risk mitigation and gender mainstreaming to this role. If you have a strong background in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, or related fields, we encourage you to apply.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An advanced university degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Gender, Development Studies, Economics, Political Science, Anthropology, or any other relevant Social Science discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional/managerial experience in gender mainstreaming in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, or related fields
  • Expertise in conducting gender analysis and integrating gender-sensitive approaches into development projects
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working with government bodies, women's groups, and local communities
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
