Health and Safety Professional

The ideal candidate for this role will possess exceptional knowledge and skills in health and safety, with a proven track record of promoting a positive culture within the workplace. They will be able to formulate and direct policies to provide a safe and healthy environment, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

In this key role, they will work closely with management and employees to identify and mitigate risks, develop and implement effective strategies, and conduct regular site inspections to monitor policy implementation. Their expertise will cover a range of specialist areas, including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, and occupational diseases.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement health and safety strategies and internal policies
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify opportunities for reduction
  • Outline safe operational procedures and account for relevant hazards
  • Conduct regular site inspections and ensure policies are properly implemented
  • Plan and implement methods to promote health and safety and safe working practices
  • Attend safety committee meetings and negotiate with management and operators
  • Make changes to working practices that are safe and compliant with legislation
  • Lead training sessions on health and safety issues and risks
  • Keep records of inspections findings and produce reports suggesting improvements
  • Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers
  • Produce management reports
  • Conduct accident investigations and produce subsequent reports and recommendations
  • Conduct fire drills and ensure safe equipment installation
  • Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances
  • Advise on specialist areas such as fire regulations and hazardous substances
