Lead AI Systems Engineer

Motive is seeking a highly skilled Lead AI Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of AI systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AI and ML infrastructure, as well as experience managing high-performing engineering teams. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance model performance.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a high-performing engineering team focused on AI system reliability, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Develop strategies to detect, diagnose, and mitigate failures and degradation across AI features in production.
  • Design data-driven tools and processes to surface anomalies and performance regressions.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve monitoring, observability, and data quality.
  • Oversee data analysis, annotation processes, and AI system workflows to enhance model performance.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for AI workflows, ensuring clarity and efficiency.
  • Monitor key AI performance metrics and implement optimization strategies.

About You:

  • Strong understanding of AI feature development lifecycles, data pipelines, and model debugging.
  • Proven experience with root cause analysis, reliability engineering, or debugging complex distributed systems.
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to uncover insights from data.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with ML researchers, product managers, and data engineers.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and reporting.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience managing high-performing engineering teams in AI or ML infrastructure.
