Job Description: Payroll AccountantKey Responsibilities:- Manage payroll preparation and distribution, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, overtime, commissions, bonuses, and deductions.
- Review payroll data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies before processing.
- Maintain and update payroll records, including employee changes and tax withholdings.
- Ensure payroll complies with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including FLSA, tax codes, and wage laws.
- Prepare and file tax forms (e.g., W-2s, W-3s, 941s, and 1099s) accurately and on time.
- Maintain up-to-date payroll policies and procedures.
- Oversee the payroll system and related software, ensuring functionality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with IT or external vendors to resolve technical payroll issues.
- Recommend and implement system upgrades or changes to improve efficiency.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and tax forms.
- Address payroll discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Conduct internal audits of payroll to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and work closely with the finance team on accounting entries.
- 4-7 years of experience required in US Payroll.
- Proven experience in developing and managing payroll shared services in a large, complex organization.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, policies, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
