Degree Holder in Fashion Studies

This position involves contributing to the development of fashion designs under the supervision of experienced designers.

Main Tasks:

  1. Market Trend Identification
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest fashion trends, styles, and industry developments.
  • Carry out research on fabrics, colours, and patterns relevant to upcoming seasons.
Visualisation and Concept Creation
  • Create sketches and concept drawings based on design briefs or ideas.
  • Help develop initial design concepts and convert them into visual representations.
Production Planning and Technical Design
  • Use design software and tools to create technical drawings and specifications.
  • Work with pattern makers and sample makers to ensure designs are feasible for production.
Material Procurement and Sourcing
  • Assist in choosing suitable fabrics, trims, and materials for the designs.
  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors to source materials for prototypes and samples.
Inter-Departmental Collaboration
  • Collaborate with other team members, such as pattern makers, sample makers, and production staff, to execute designs.
  • Communicate with client advisors and marketing teams to understand market requirements.
Prototype Development and Testing
  • Participate in the creation of prototypes and samples.
  • Provide input during fittings and make adjustments to designs as necessary.
Documentation and Report Preparation
  • Maintain organised records of designs, sketches, and specifications.
  • Assist in preparing design reports for internal reviews and meetings.
Competitor Analysis and Market Insights
  • Analyse market trends and competitor products to identify opportunities and challenges.
  • Share insights with the design team based on market research.
Design Revision and Quality Assurance
  • Modify designs based on feedback from senior designers, clients, or production teams.
  • Ensure that designs meet quality and cost standards.
Continuing Professional Education
  • Stay informed about advancements in design techniques, software, and industry best practices.
  • Attend workshops or training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements for the Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or Textile Design.
  • Good technical skills and understanding of garment production.
  • Comfortable with communicating with production teams.
  • Good Excel and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively with other groups, as necessary.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
