Cloud Engineer Job Description

The role of a Cloud Engineer involves designing, building, and managing cloud-based infrastructure. This includes developing automation modules using various technologies.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure that all cloud-based systems meet the required Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  2. Lead urgent issues and projects, ensuring that project statuses are communicated effectively and appropriate resources are assigned.
  3. Design, build, support, and manage cloud initiatives.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve Puppet Enterprise architecture and associated technology stack issues.
  5. Communicate with stakeholders using a thorough process methodology.
  6. Collaborate with development engineering for Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) infrastructure creation and deployment.
  7. Develop environments for quality assurance, development, etc.
  8. Deploy and Support applications in a cloud environment.
  9. Ensure infrastructure security and reliability.
  10. Provide direct server support during operations.
  11. Collaborate with developers to ensure that new environments meet requirements.
  12. Implement and test agreed-upon infrastructures.
  13. Automate Linux application, system configurations, and security settings deployment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  2. Minimum 3-7 years of related experience in the industry.
  3. Experience in scripting and building automation using standard technologies.
  4. Ability to develop automation code to deploy and maintain systems and applications.
  5. Familiarity with DevOps practices and automation tooling.
  6. Virtualization facility with data center requirements knowledge.
  7. Hands-on working with automation tools like Ansible, Chef.
  8. Experience with Terraform, Cloud Formation, and Kubernetes.
  9. Basic level scripting experience (Python, Ruby, Bash, PowerShell).
  10. Experience with Linux distributions (Rhel 8, CentOS, Ubuntu, Amazon Linux).
  11. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
