Medical Transcriptionist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Transcriptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for transcribing medical dictations with high accuracy, meeting tight deadlines, and maintaining confidentiality at all times.

To be considered for this role, you should have a strong background in medical terminology, experience with transcription software, and a typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.

You will also need to possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Description

Your primary responsibility will be to transcribe medical dictations with high accuracy and efficiency. This will involve listening to audio recordings, typing transcripts, and editing documents for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.

You will also be required to review and edit transcribed reports or dictated material for consistency, clarity, and proper medical terminology.

  • Transcribe dictation for a variety of clinical sources, including patient histories, physical examinations, emergency room visits, operations, chart reviews, consultation, and discharge summaries.
  • Review and edit transcribed reports or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology.
  • Return dictated reports in printed or electronic form for physicians' review, signature, and corrections, and for inclusion in patients' medical records.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Science, preferably in a related field.
  • One year in-house training from any reputable healthcare organization or at least two years of related work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in spoken and written English.
  • Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
  • Ability to operate transcription equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams as well as independently.
