Senior Research Director Position

The University is seeking an experienced leader to develop and implement a research and innovation strategy aligned with national priorities. This involves identifying key research areas, securing funding, and fostering academia-industry linkages.

Main Responsibilities:
• Develop Research Strategy: Align university-wide research initiatives with national priorities by conducting thorough market analysis, identifying emerging trends, and leveraging partnerships.
• Fund Research: Identify key research areas and secure internal and external funding through effective grant writing, networking, and resource mobilization.
• Strengthen Industry Linkages: Foster collaboration between academia and industry to promote research commercialization by building relationships, facilitating knowledge transfer, and creating mutually beneficial projects.
• Intellectual Property Management: Manage intellectual property, licensing, and startup culture by providing guidance on IP protection, negotiations, and spin-off ventures.
• Research Training and Ecosystem Development: Organize research training programs and establish incubators and hubs to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and talent development.
• Monitoring and Evaluation: Oversee the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of research activities to ensure quality, impact, and efficiency.

Requirements:
• Leadership Experience: 15+ years in research, commercialization, or academic leadership roles with a proven track record of strategic planning, team management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Proven Track Record: Demonstrated leadership in research projects and successful entrepreneurial endeavors, showcasing innovation, adaptability, and results-driven approach.
• Industry and Government Connections: Strong links with academia, industry, and government sectors, enabling effective collaboration, knowledge exchange, and policy influence.

Skills:
• Strategic Thinking: Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and team building skills to drive vision, foster collaboration, and achieve goals.
• IP and Grants Management: Experience with intellectual property management, grants, and innovation programs to facilitate knowledge creation, technology transfer, and business development.
• Knowledge of HEC Policies: Familiarity with HEC policies and the national Research and Development landscape to navigate regulations, opportunities, and challenges effectively.

Education:
• Advanced Degree: Ph.D./ M.Phil. in sciences (preferably Ph.D.) with a High Impact Factor demonstrating expertise, originality, and academic excellence.
