Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned content creator to lead our research and writing efforts. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality content that engages our audience.

Your primary duties will include preparing, rewriting, and editing copy to improve readability, as well as supervising others who perform this task.

You will also be responsible for reading copy or proof to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax. Additionally, you will allocate space for story text, photos, and illustrations according to parameters and copy significance, using knowledge of layout principles.

Key responsibilities also include planning the contents of publications according to style, editorial policy, and publishing requirements. You will verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources.

Furthermore, you will review and approve proofs submitted by composing room prior to publication production. You will develop story or content ideas, considering reader appeal, and oversee publication production, including artwork, layout, computer typesetting, and printing, ensuring adherence to deadlines.

You will confer with management and editorial staff members regarding placement and emphasis of developing news stories, assign topics, events, and stories to individual writers or reporters for coverage, and read, evaluate, and edit manuscripts or other materials submitted for publication.

Other responsibilities include monitoring news-gathering operations to ensure utilization of all news sources, meeting with artists, typesetters, layout personnel, marketing directors, and production managers to discuss projects and resolve problems, and supervising and coordinating work of reporters and other editors.

Required Skills and Qualifications

A bachelor's degree is required, along with published material experience. An active team player with excellent social skills is essential.
