Job Summary: As a Staff Accountant, you will play a vital role in our finance team by performing various accounting and financial tasks. Your responsibilities will include maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and assisting with the overall financial management of our organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Recording Financial Transactions: Accurately record day-to-day banking and credit card transactions in financial books, ensuring that all entries are complete and error-free. This involves capturing every transaction, whether it's an incoming payment or an outgoing expense, to ensure our financial records accurately reflect our current financial situation.
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure that our financial records match the bank statements, identifying and resolving any discrepancies promptly. This process involves verifying that all deposits and withdrawals have been recorded correctly and making adjustments as necessary.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable: Record bills and invoices, and ensure they are processed promptly. Additionally, maintain a record of outstanding customer invoices and vendor bills. This includes tracking payments due from customers and payments owed to vendors to ensure timely processing.
- General Journal Entries: Enter general journal entries as needed to capture any financial transactions that do not fit into the standard categories. This may involve recording assets, liabilities, equity, revenues, and expenses, among other things.
- Vendor and Customer Statement Reconciliation: Reconcile vendor and customer statements to ensure that our records align with external statements, addressing any discrepancies. This ensures that we have an accurate picture of our financial position and can make informed decisions about our business.
- Month-End Accruals: Record month-end accruals accurately to reflect outstanding expenses or revenues for the period, ensuring our financial statements are up-to-date. This involves reviewing our accounts to identify any items that need to be accrued, such as unpaid bills or unearned revenue.
- Payroll Processing: Assist in recording and processing payroll transactions. This includes calculating salaries, benefits, and taxes, as well as ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Prepaid Expense Schedules: Prepare and maintain prepaid expense schedules to accurately reflect the prepaid expenses on the balance sheet. This involves tracking the amount of prepaid expenses and adjusting them as necessary to reflect their value at the end of each reporting period.
- Fixed Assets Register: Maintain an up-to-date fixed assets register, tracking the value and depreciation of the tangible assets. This involves regularly reviewing our fixed assets to determine their current value and applying depreciation accordingly.
- Inventory Reconciliation: Reconcile inventory records with physical counts and make necessary adjustments to maintain accurate inventory valuations. This ensures that we have a clear understanding of our inventory levels and can make informed decisions about production and purchasing.
