The primary role of a Professor/Associate/Assistant Professor in this position is to oversee and supervise the clinical and academic activities of the department, as well as patient care. Key responsibilities include assigning and delegating tasks to senior registrars and registrar staff to ensure smooth operation.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lecturing and Teaching: Arranging and delivering lectures, seminars, clinical skills sessions, small group discussions, evaluations, and assessments according to the curriculum for MBBS/BDS students.
  • Postgraduate Training: Facilitating postgraduate trainees (FCPS and DCPS) with clinical presentations, small group discussions, case-based and problem-based teaching, journal clubs, psychomotor skill teaching, and preparation for inter-module examinations and dissertations.
  • Clinical Meetings and Conferences: Assisting the Head of Department/Professor in organizing CPC/clinical meetings and conferences in collaboration with other professional organizations.
  • Research and Development: Coordinating and facilitating faculty members and postgraduate trainees in research and development through continuous education and learning environments, assisting with publication requirements as part of career development research activities of the department.
  • Patient Care: Providing knowledge on basic management of common patient care problems, including emergency treatment and management of emergencies to develop clinical and practical skills of students.
  • Examinations: Assisting and facilitating the Head of Department in conducting examinations of MBBS/BDS.
  • Outpatient Department (OPD): Ensuring regular OPD sessions for continuing medical care and managing/supervising new patients referred for specialist advice.
  • Clinical Rounds: Ensuring regular clinical rounds of the ward to manage/supervise the progress and care of indoor patients.
  • Medical Procedures: Conducting medical procedures in the ward under the supervision of senior consultants and developing a proper monitoring mechanism to ensure that all recommended diagnostics and investigations are carried out.
  • Specialist Advice: Providing specialist advice on medical problems of patients referred from other departments.
  • Emergency Department: Assessing patients in the emergency department if required for consultancy.
  • On-Call Commitments: Ensuring on-call commitments after regular duty hours to provide cover for critical patients round the clock.
  • Departmental Confidential Inquiries: Assisting the Head of Department/Professor in departmental confidential inquiries of mortalities.
  • Staff Management: Managing, supervising, and training PGs, MOs, HOs, and other paramedical staff to ensure delivery of quality health services to patients and enhancing the management skills of the staff.
  • Duty Rota and Staff Placement: Preparing and monitoring the duty rota of the department, including paramedical staff, and managing and resolving staff management and placement issues.
  • Hospital Administration: Maintaining close liaison with hospital administration to ensure proper ward management, including patient clinical records and routine matters related to demand and supply and complaints.
  • Ethics: Following Islamic and medical ethics as per IIMCT mission statement.
