**Job Description**

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Assurance Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the development and operationalization of our monitoring program, ensuring its smooth transition to certification. This includes finalizing and publishing our 2nd party monitoring approach at farm level, setting up a system to plan and track Better Cotton monitoring activities, and developing templates to share learnings with other assurance and certification activities.

The Assurance Manager will also lead on quality management systems in the Assurance team, manage document control, maintain central lists of documents, coordinate work between document owners, communicate updates and versions to users, and ensure consistent high-quality assurance implementation globally.

In addition, this role involves working closely with other Better Cotton functions and departments to collaborate on cross-functional initiatives, supporting fundraising proposals and donor-funded project implementation, responding to queries internally and externally about the assurance program, and contributing to the overall global Assurance team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent higher education qualification in a relevant field
  • Work experience with a substantial timeframe in relevant field (standards and certification, auditing, sustainable development, etc.)
  • Fluent English language skills with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in project management in an international context
  • Excellent understanding of assurance in the context of global commodity value chains
  • Strong understanding of basic auditing approaches and principles
  • Balanced strategic thinking with attention to detail
  • Able to critically appraise arguments, organize ideas, and draw conclusions
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to finding solutions
  • Proven organizational abilities, handling competing priorities and managing multiple projects
  • Collaborative mindset, building relationships across different teams and cultures
  • Good communication skills for various audiences
  • Ability to work autonomously and adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Academic background in rural/agricultural development and sustainability
  • Direct experience working with farmers or farming communities
  • Advanced numerical skills and data analysis experience
  • Competency in languages relevant to Better Cotton countries
