Database Migration Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Migration Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing database migration strategies that meet the needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute database migration plans, including defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, backup/recovery, and HADR based on RTO/RPO.
  • Automate solutions for repeatable tasks/requirements.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with application teams to ensure business functionality and SLAs are met.
Requirements:
  1. 8+ years of experience in large-scale heterogeneous database migrations, modernization, refactoring, and optimization, especially with Postgres, Oracle, and AWS Aurora.
  2. Expertise in AWS Database Migration Services, including AWS SCT and AWS DMS (especially CDC), for large dataset migrations.
  3. Experience with heterogeneous database migration complexities, schema transformations, challenges, and potential solutions in real-world scenarios.
  4. Proficiency in automations, especially in terms of database deployments and migrations, using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, and Shell Scripting.
  5. Experience with database development and/or database code refactoring/migration involving procedural languages, such as Postgres PL/pgSQL, Oracle PLSQL, and MSSQL TSQL.
  6. Good understanding of database/data security best practices and solutions to compliance requirements, including PCI, HIPAA, GDPR, SOC, and ISO.
  7. Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
