Job Overview

The Senior Linux System Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, security, and reliability of our hosting platforms. This includes managing, optimizing, and securing Linux-based environments, as well as troubleshooting complex server and network issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Escalation & Troubleshooting: Serve as the final escalation point for complex server, hosting, and network-related issues.
  • Linux Server Administration: Manage and optimize Linux-based hosting environments, administer web servers, databases, and caching layers, and build and deploy servers from scratch.
  • Automation & DevOps: Develop automation scripts for server provisioning and configuration management using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Bash.
  • Cloud & Virtualization: Deploy and manage cloud-based hosting solutions, including KVM, OpenStack, VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices, perform vulnerability assessments, and patch management to secure customer environments.
  • Monitoring & Incident Response: Set up and manage monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios, and participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for urgent system issues.
Requirements
  • 11+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience in a web hosting or cloud environment.
  • 7+ years of experience in a Senior position or Level 3 Engineer role.
  • Expert knowledge of web hosting technologies, scripting ability in Perl, Bash, and Python, and experience with configuration management tools.
  • Familiarity with RAID, SAN, NAS, and distributed storage systems, and ability to work in a 24/7 production environment with on-call duties.
