Merchandising Specialist Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

This role requires a strong understanding of garment manufacturing, including construction, fabrication, trim and print techniques, knits, and denim products. You will handle overall responsibilities such as:

  • Product development from start to finish, ensuring quality, vendor selection, pricing, and timely delivery.
  • Negotiating prices, quantities, and timelines with buyers, suppliers, and merchandising teams.
  • Building constructive relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Ensuring vendors meet schedules for inspections and provide shipping documents in a timely manner.
  • Reporting to business leaders as required.
  • Handling ad-hoc projects such as vendor compliance and documentation.
  • Communicating regularly with buyers and merchant teams regarding production and shipment status.
  • Coordinating operational activities from proto sample development to costing, production tracking, fabric and trim development, WIP updates, and price negotiation with suppliers.
  • Tracking critical path, forecast delays, and taking corrective action to ensure on-time delivery.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • 8-10 years working experience in merchandising.
  • Sound knowledge of garment manufacturing, including construction, fabrication, trim and print techniques, knits, and denim products.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; highly detail-oriented.
  • Professional qualification in a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe products, Excel, etc.
