US Tax Manager Job Description

As a US Tax Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the preparation and timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns. Your responsibility will be to ensure accurate reporting and payment of all tax liabilities.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Tax Filing and Compliance: Manage the process of preparing and submitting tax returns, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations.
  2. Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation to support all tax filings, guaranteeing easy access for auditing purposes.
  3. Regulatory Updates and Training: Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations, providing regular training to team members to ensure they are up-to-date on the latest developments.
  4. Tax Strategy Development and Implementation: Collaborate with other departments to develop effective tax strategies that minimize tax liabilities and optimize the company's tax position.
  5. Advisory Role: Provide guidance on tax implications for business decisions, mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  6. Financial Planning and Budgeting: Work closely with finance teams to project future tax liabilities and assist in financial planning and budgeting processes.
  7. Internal Audits and Risk Management: Conduct regular internal audits to identify areas of risk and implement measures to mitigate them, ensuring the company remains compliant with tax policies and procedures.
  8. External Audits and Dispute Resolution: Manage relationships with external auditors, including the IRS and state tax authorities, and oversee responses to tax audits and inquiries, addressing any disputes or issues that arise.
  9. Leadership and Team Management: Lead and manage a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to enhance their skills and performance.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, EA, or CMA.
  • 10+ years of experience in taxation, with a strong background in tax law and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to stay up-to-date on changes in tax laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
