Senior Backend Developer - Marketplace Architect

Zarai Mandi is developing a smartphone marketplace to modernize agricultural commodity trading in Pakistan.

The Senior Backend Developer will be responsible for leading technical operations, architecting scalable backend systems, and overseeing end-to-end project execution from planning to deployment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Backend System Architecture: Design and maintain scalable backend systems for a mobile-first commodity trading marketplace.
  2. Project Lifecycle Management: Lead the end-to-end project lifecycle: requirement scoping, resource allocation, sprint planning, and delivery tracking.
  3. API Development: Build and manage APIs, ensuring reliability and performance under scale.
  4. Server Deployment and Monitoring: Oversee server deployment, cloud configurations, CI/CD pipelines, and system monitoring.
  5. Bug Resolution and QA: Identify and resolve bugs and bottlenecks quickly, with a proactive QA/testing approach.
  6. Integration and Collaboration: Collaborate with frontend/mobile developers to ensure seamless integration and user experience.
  7. Technical Roadmapping: Set 30-60-90 day technical roadmaps aligned with business goals and resources.
  8. Team Leadership: Foster a culture of technical creativity and experimentation to solve industry-specific challenges.
  9. Code Reviews and Documentation: Manage workflows, code reviews, and documentation processes.
  10. Mentorship and Cross-Functional Coordination: Provide technical mentorship to junior developers and coordinate cross-functional responsibilities across departments.
Qualifications:
  1. Educational Background: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Professional Experience: 6-8 years of professional experience.
  3. Marketplace Experience: Experience building B2B or B2C marketplaces, especially in low-connectivity or mobile-first environments.
  4. Fintech and Agri-Tech Exposure: Exposure to fintech, agri-tech, or supply chain/logistics platforms is a plus.
