HMI Ventures is seeking an experienced architect and engineering manager to lead its technology team. As the Lead Architect and Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for defining the company's technical vision and strategy, as well as overseeing the development of its web-based services.

A strong software background, preferably with internet and mobile app development experience, is required. You should have a proven track record of strong coding and individual technical accomplishments, as well as a demonstrated ability to achieve short and long-term goals in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define the company's technical vision and strategy
  • Oversee the development of web-based services
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices by attending relevant conferences and reading widely (including reading your peers' blogs).
  • Ensure company technical problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to envision web-based services that meet consumer needs or solve business problems
  • 5 years experience managing web application development
  • 2 years experience with a start-up company or project
  • Familiar with PHP and/or Ruby with frameworks
  • Skill with CSS, XHTML, one or more Javascript frameworks, and AJAX
