Role Overview

Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned software professional to lead our data infrastructure efforts. Our team is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining all backend services, including payment gateways, analytics tools, subscription platforms, new product integrations, text-to-speech functionality, and external API connections.

This position is ideal for individuals who think strategically, thrive in fast-paced environments, are passionate about making informed product decisions, and have experience crafting exceptional user experiences that delight customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and implement novel sources of audio data, integrating them into our ingestion pipeline.
  • Manage and expand our cloud infrastructure for the ingestion pipeline, currently running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and managed using Terraform.
  • Closely collaborate with our scientists to optimize the cost-throughput-quality frontier, delivering richer data at larger scales and lower costs to power our next-generation models.
  • Contribute to the AI Team's dataset roadmap, aligning with Speechify's consumer and enterprise product strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of industry experience in software development.
  • Proficiency in bash/Python scripting in Linux environments.
  • Experience with Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts, along with professional expertise in at least one major cloud provider (we utilize GCP).
  • Familiarity with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows is beneficial.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
