Credentialing Specialist Job Description

As a Credentialing Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the credentialing and re-credentialing process of healthcare professionals. This role ensures that all healthcare professionals are properly credentialed, including maintaining current information on file and within the credentialing database.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform the credentialing process for medical and behavioral providers, including contracting and follow-ups.
  • Attend to CAQH attestation and ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion in communications with credentialing applicants and applications.
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders through oral and written correspondence.
  • Respond promptly to emails and address inquiries in a timely manner.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Medical Biller in a US healthcare setting or similar role.
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS), and insurance billing procedures.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare compliance and privacy regulations (HIPAA).
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
