Service Technician I Job Description

This role plays a crucial part in accelerating organizational success by installing, repairing, and maintaining business and residential telephone, internet, security, and TV services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Experience: Provide exceptional service to customers, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Install & Repair Expertise: Install, repair, and maintain various telecommunications services, including POTS, ADSL, VDSL, FTTx, DOCSIS, and PtMP Wireless.
  • Determining Service Needs: Identify customer needs and sell relevant services to meet those needs, upgrading services as necessary.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent experience is required. Familiarity with office productivity software (email, calendar, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software) is also necessary.
  • You must have the ability to read blueprints, maps, and similar drawings, identify defective cable using test equipment, operate hand and power tools, and possess basic electronics, cable installation, and repair knowledge.
  • In addition, you should hold and maintain a valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the company's insurance carrier criteria for coverage acceptance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An associate degree in electronics, telecommunications, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • One year of experience in a telecommunication or CATV technical position, or two years of telecommunications school, is also desirable.
  • Familiarity with special circuits, carrier equipment, and transport equipment, as well as wireless and wired networking basics, would be beneficial.
