Senior HVAC Technician

A highly skilled and experienced Senior HVAC Technician is sought after to join our team in performing a wide range of duties including installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service, and repair of commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical maintenance, with at least 5 years of experience in the installation, operations, repair, and maintenance of commercial or industrial HVAC/mechanical refrigeration systems. They must also possess excellent troubleshooting skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring the performance of heating, cooling, and related systems by interpreting energy management system alarms and temperature and pressure differentials.
  • Performing preventive maintenance work based on equipment manufacturers' recommended procedures and the facilities computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Maintaining accurate records of buildings systems and equipment and ensuring there are ample spare parts and materials in stock to keep systems operational.
  • Assuring the proper operation of a wide variety of mechanical systems and devices, including pumps, motors, and compressors.
  • Performing preventive maintenance to keep facilities systems to prescribed operating standards and/or performance rates.
  • Troubleshooting problems and adjusting/replacing components as necessary using hand tools and precision measuring and testing devices.
  • Providing detailed estimates of repair costs beyond the capability to perform.

Required qualifications include:

  • Completion of secondary school required.
  • Graduation from a state-approved/accredited or military program that provided formal HVAC Journeyman level instruction and training, with hands-on experience in rehabilitation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of new and older HVAC building systems and equipment.
  • HVAC technician must hold a current EPA-approved CFC Universal certification for high and low-pressure refrigerants, and be familiar with/be able to comply with regulations governing the use of CFC refrigerants.
  • Ability to manage critical, time-sensitive projects that require extensive coordination across program and organizational lines.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals in garnering cooperation and support for key planning, operations, and management initiatives in the assigned program area.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
