Contract Review Assistant

The purpose of this role is to provide support in reviewing and preparing initial drafts of contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare Contract Drafts: Assist in creating initial draft agreements and contracts, including service level agreements, gas sale and purchase agreements, and contracts governed by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority Rules.
  2. Amendment Identification: Identify amendments to laws, rules, and regulations made by federal, provincial, or local government and present them to the immediate superior for review.
  3. Contract Support: Support in drafting and reviewing contracts related to commercial transactions, memorandum of understanding (MoUs), and non-disclosure agreements.
  4. Tenancy Agreements: Prepare drafts for tenancy and lease agreements, ensuring that legal perspectives and interests are appropriately covered.
  5. Negotiation Assistance: Assist in negotiating gas sale agreements with exploration & production (E&P) companies within the gas industry.
  6. Contract Management: Maintain copies of contracts in a safe custody.
  7. Legal Opinion Drafting: Undertake initial drafting of legal opinions and guidance for review by Legal department management before sharing with user departments.
  8. Representation: Represent in court or federal ombudsman hearings on important matters or as deemed necessary.
  9. Progress Reporting: Prepare periodic reports on contract progress status for Legal department management.
  10. Risk Management: Comply with the risk management framework and participate actively in risk management activities across the organization.
  11. Key Risk Identification: Ensure timely identification, reporting, recording, and management of key risks.
  12. Training and Development: Receive appropriate training in risk management and undertake additional tasks assigned by the superior.
