World Health Organization is seeking a highly skilled Medical Officer to join our team in the field of vaccine preventable diseases control and elimination. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical advice to countries to strengthen their routine immunization systems and improve routine immunization coverage and equity.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical advice to countries to strengthen their routine immunization systems and improve routine immunization coverage and equity.
- Develop and implement comprehensive multi-year plans (cMYPs) and annual Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) plans.
- Oversee planning and implementation of measles/rubella control/elimination activities, including supplementary immunization activities and measles case-based laboratory surveillance.
- Coordinate activities related to the introduction of new vaccines, including developing applications to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and conducting necessary training for introduction.
- Develop and implement polio transition plans and oversee ongoing laboratory-based surveillance of rotavirus gastroenteritis and invasive bacterial vaccine preventable diseases.
- Serve as a technical advisor to the public concerning investigation and response to outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases.
- Supervise and guide other EPI field staff at federal, provincial, and district levels.
- Monitor resource mobilization for EPI-related activities and ensure timely utilization of funds.
- Master's degree in medicine, epidemiology, or public health with a specialization in immune or vaccine relevant areas.
- At least 10 years of extensive and practical experience in the field of immunization programmes and control of vaccine-preventable diseases at high managerial levels at national and international levels.
- Excellent knowledge of principles, practices, methodology, and techniques of immunization programmes.
- Excellent capacity in developing strategies and plans related to immunization programmes.
