Head of Sourcing

• Liaise with key employees to determine product and service requirements.
• Maintain awareness of business trends and product availability to ensure optimal pricing.
• Nurture relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best possible prices.
• Identify and research potential new suppliers.
• Stay up-to-date with new products and services that meet the company's goals.
• Evaluate the total cost of purchases.
• Develop strategies for procuring, storing, and distributing goods or services.
• Oversee a team of purchasing agents in large companies.
• Report to the chief procurement officer.

A people person with strong networking skills, excellent written and oral communication skills is essential.

Data analysis, superior organisational skills, good business instincts, mathematics skills, and negotiation abilities are also required.

Understanding supply chain management procedures, logistics skills, strategic planning abilities, and knowledge of supply management software are necessary.

Specialised industry knowledge and experience as a procurement clerk or junior buyer are advantageous.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, engineering, economics, applied science, or a related field, especially those accredited by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), is preferred.
