Clinical Coding Specialist

The Medical Coder is responsible for accurately reviewing, summarizing and coding clinical documentation to support safe clinical care, meet contractual obligations and maintain comprehensive patient records. This role requires attention to detail, familiarity with clinical terminology and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
">- Review and analyze clinical documents to extract and code relevant information.
- Accurately assign SNOMED and other industry-standard codes in alignment with current guidance.
- Process a minimum of 65 letters per day within their assigned practice.
- Identify and flag missing or unclear information in patient records.
- File documents into EMIS Web, Docman or SystmOne in line with the practice's Clinical Coding Protocol.
- Apply awareness of QOF targets, PCN DES and other clinical targets when coding.
- Educate colleagues on coding standards and protocols as needed.
