Job Title: Tax Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tax Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate indirect tax compliance and related accounting and tax advisory, risk management as well as effectively handling tax audits.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Timely and accurately file indirect tax returns (Federal and Provincial authorities)
  • Assist the Unit Head in keeping check on systems and flow of information within systems affecting indirect taxation & related coordination with Business, BI, Operations, Channels, Technology & other relevant teams
  • Assist the Unit Head in coordination with AP, accounting and IT teams etc. for reporting requirements and information retrieval for tax compliance as well as Sourcing for vendor related tax matters and resolution
  • Monthly closing in respect of indirect tax compliance (output tax, input tax & sales tax withholdings etc.) and related provisions
  • Retrieval, review and filing of information to tax authorities during the course of various tax proceedings from federal and provincial tax authorities and in response to tax notices
  • Preparing monthly/quarterly reconciliations to identify gaps and prepare necessary adjustments
  • Trend analysis for output tax and underlying revenues, input tax, sales tax withholding and underlying expenses and bookings as well as reconciliations
  • Timely retrieval & issuance of sales tax challans & maintenance of tax record for ease of access
  • Probability analysis and raising alarm & provision requirement with respect to potential tax issues
  • Represent the company before federal and provincial tax authorities and appellate forums, if needed
  • Correspondence with external tax advisors / legal counsel
  • Develop good working relationships within Finance and with other departments
  • Weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting of tax issues to Unit Head
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree / ACCA / ICMA / CAF
  • Article ship at a CA firm will be preferred
  • 3-4 years relevant experience
  • Knowledge of business and processes
  • Knowledge of accounting standards
  • Knowledge of statutory tax laws or regulations / implications
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle)
  • Ability to make sense out of financial and tax data
