Job Description:

This role is ideal for those who can provide empathetic and supportive communication to individuals in crisis.

The successful candidate will work remotely as part of a team, providing callers with free, confidential short-term emotional support, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, information, referrals, follow-up, and advocacy services.

  • Receive comprehensive training in crisis counseling, information & referral, and suicide prevention best practices
  • Answer inquiries via phone, text, and chat platforms
  • Provide critical resources and support to individuals in crisis situations
  • Foster active listening techniques to assist callers in de-escalating from mental health issues/concerns

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow established procedures and recognized industry standards
  • Accurately complete call reports and contact documentation records
  • Work occasional holidays and unscheduled hours as required
  • Actively participate in required training to enhance professional skills and aid in program development initiatives
  • Protect the confidentiality of sensitive information and agency resources

Requirements:

  • Excellent computer skills, including online reporting, email, and internal search database management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective communication with callers, colleagues, and supervisors
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to empathize with others, and a non-judgmental attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary support to callers
