Job Description

The Aga Khan University Hospital provides comprehensive healthcare services under one roof. Our tertiary care hospital in Karachi is part of a network of secondary care hospitals, Medical Centres, and Clinical Laboratories across Pakistan.

HIMS offers medical record keeping services including coding, cancer registry, transcription, and document imaging. These services are crucial for maintaining up-to-date patient clinical records.

  • Approximately 1.8 million medical records are accommodated, with an average daily increase of 500 files.
  • HIMS circulates about 4000 records within the Stadium Road campus and Clifton Medical Services daily.

Responsibilities

You will identify reportable neoplasms, code information, and perform lifetime follow-up. This will provide data for quality improvement, administrative planning, and research activities.

  • Cases must meet criteria defined by the Cancer Committee.
  • Medical records (outpatient & inpatient) are reviewed, abstracted, and entered into the Cancer Registry software-CNExT.
  • Follow-up activities involve sending letters or calls to assess last seen dates.
  • Liaise with physicians for query resolution and accuracy enhancement.
  • Presentations are given among registrars to understand disease processes, diagnostic methods, and treatment options.
  • Continuing education sessions are attended online.
  • Ongoing duties are assigned by supervisors.
Requirements

You should have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in science with physiology as a major subject.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Working knowledge of computer programs/software.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
