Heritage Conservation Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Architect to contribute to our heritage conservation initiative in the Northern Areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for architectural documentation, heritage assessment, conservation planning, and community collaboration.

• Conduct thorough site surveys, create accurate drawings using AutoCAD, and assess the condition of historic structures.

• Prepare detailed maps and plans, including sections, elevations, and condition assessments.

• Participate in photographic documentation, utilizing DSLR and drone-based surveys.

• Assist in developing a strategic phased conservation plan, incorporating heritage principles, material compatibility, and risk mitigation.

• Support report writing, data organization, and heritage analysis aligned with international conservation charters.

• Develop graphic presentations, diagrams, and visual materials to communicate conservation strategies and spatial understanding.

• Engage with local artisans and communities to document traditional techniques and materials.

• Collaborate with technical specialists, including structural and conservation experts.

• Contribute to adaptive reuse strategies, design guidelines, and sustainability recommendations.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from a recognized institution.

• Professional experience in architectural documentation and design, with strong skills in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.

• Excellent freehand sketching, site note-taking, and architectural illustration abilities.

• Strong photographic skills for documentation and condition mapping, with knowledge of drone operation advantageous.

• Able to produce well-structured technical and narrative reports.

• Strong graphic communication skills for producing maps, diagrams, and illustrated documents.

• Understanding of heritage conservation principles and charters, such as the Venice Charter and Burra Charter.

• Ability to work in remote and high-altitude field conditions.

• Collaborative mindset, particularly in cross-disciplinary and culturally diverse environments.

• Previous experience in heritage, vernacular architecture, or cultural landscape projects.

• Familiarity with traditional materials such as rubble stone, mud mortar, and timber construction.

• Interest in capacity building, local craft revival, and sustainable conservation practices.

• Fluency in English and regional languages is beneficial.
