Medical Assistant - Medication Management

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team in managing medication. As a key member of the healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the proper storage, dispensing, and record-keeping of medications. Your attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently make you an ideal candidate for this position. The successful candidate will report to a team leader or head of the department, as assigned by the country team.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Managing medication stocks and recording daily/weekly/monthly usage.
  • Following strict adherence to prescriptions when dispensing medication.
  • Counselling patients on medication use, including dosage instructions, precautions, and potential side effects.
  • Ensuring proper labelling of medication according to international standards.
  • Providing complete courses of treatment to patients.
  • Collaborating with pharmacists to maintain a continuous supply of medication, preventing stockouts, and requesting timely replenishments from warehouses.
  • Maintaining optimal storage conditions for medication.
  • Accurate registration and recording of patient information within designated registers.
  • Compliance with administrative directives regarding work schedules, record-keeping, patient interactions, restocking of essential medications, consumables, and other medical supplies.


Qualifications Required:
  • Registered dispenser from a recognized nursing institution with a valid license to practice or equivalent qualification accepted in the country.
  • Previous experience in the same capacity will be beneficial.
  • NGO experience preferable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective public health service delivery.
  • Familiarity with medications' utilization and dosages.
  • Proficiency in English language reading and writing.
