Job Summary:

A computer systems technologist is responsible for maintaining and organizing computer labs, ensuring they are fully operational. They will inventory, procure, and manage computer hardware, software, and peripherals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and organize computer labs to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Inventory, procure, and manage computer hardware, software, and peripherals to meet lab requirements.
  • Assist in setting up and configuring computers, servers, and network devices to ensure smooth operations.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues promptly to minimize disruptions and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Provide technical support to students and faculty in the computer labs.
  • Assist with software installations, updates, and licensing management to ensure compliance with university policies.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems, ensuring timely resolutions and documenting solutions.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols in the computer labs to prevent accidents and ensure data security.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, licensing agreements, and security guidelines to protect sensitive information.
  • Perform regular maintenance and preventive measures on computer equipment to extend its lifespan.
  • Coordinate and oversee repairs or servicing by external vendors when necessary to minimize downtime.
  • Provide training and assistance to students and faculty in using computer lab resources to enhance their skills.
  • Offer guidance on software applications and basic troubleshooting to support academic success.
  • Maintain accurate records of hardware and software inventory to track lab assets.
  • Document lab procedures, guidelines, and troubleshooting solutions to facilitate knowledge sharing.
  • Assist in maintaining data security and integrity within the computer labs by monitoring cybersecurity threats and reporting suspicious activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty to support research initiatives that require specialized lab equipment or software.
  • Work closely with the IT department for infrastructure and network-related tasks to ensure seamless integration.
