Role Description

Fellow Medical Officer, Surgical Oncology

As a medical professional in Surgical Oncology, you will be part of the Department of Surgery at the Aga Khan University. The department provides comprehensive and sub-specialty care in various areas of surgery.

The team consists of 122 full-time and part-time faculty members committed to teaching and research. Formal structured undergraduate teaching, postgraduate residency, and fellowship programs are integrated into the academic functions of the Department.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Perform initial assessments, document, and follow up on patients before being seen by the Consultant
  • Attend calls from the ER promptly
  • Formulate management plans for patients in consultation with the Senior Fellow and Consultant on call
  • Assist or perform operative procedures under supervision and documentation
  • Follow up on patients in the recovery room and hand over patients to recovery Room personnel
  • Perform daily ward rounds with the team and communicate findings, assessment, and plan to the Consultant
  • Be available on premises when on call and attend to patient-related issues in the ER or ward
  • Hand over and take charge from departing teams when there is a change in duties on call
  • Facilitate learning for students, interns, residents, and other healthcare professionals

You should possess:

  • An MBBS degree from an institution recognized by PMDC
  • FCPS Part II or equivalent in General Surgery
  • Four years of training in General Surgery in an accredited and reputable program
  • Competence in common general surgical procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
