Job Title: Senior Assistant Engineer I&C

The role of Senior Assistant Engineer I&C is a critical position in ensuring the smooth operation of Instrumentation and Control Systems in Combined Cycle Power Plants.

  • Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Serviceability:

  • Ensure the maintenance and serviceability of all instrumentation, F&G detection/suppression, and similar equipment are performed according to company procedures and quality guidelines.
  • Conduct regular checks of instrumentation for correct function and settings.

Routine and Outage Maintenance:

  • Perform routine and outage maintenance with the assistance of AE (I&C) and outage staff.
  • Plan and arrange scheduled maintenance outages with the assistance of AM/DM (Instrument & Control).

Contractor Management:

  • Manage contractor staff during outages and for executing various projects and services in I&C.

Troubleshooting and Fault Rectification:

  • Troubleshoot and rectify faults assigned in a timely manner.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Assign maintenance parties as per the requirements of daily jobs.
  • Record maintenance history of equipment.
  • Arrange requisitions/local purchases for workshop spare parts and materials, and ensure economic stock levels.
  • Verify and inspect delivered materials and submit reports to AM/DM (I&C) against issued purchase orders.
  • Provide round-the-clock shift support for plant operations as instructed by the Manager (I&C), when necessary.
  • Attain Competent Person authorization within one month of deputation to receive work permits for I&C maintenance.
  • Develop procedures and ensure good housekeeping for a clean workplace and proper waste disposal.
  • Maintain records of staff attendance, leave, and overtime.
  • Perform any task assigned by the Head of Department related to departmental functions.
  • Attend skill development and departmental procedural training as identified through TNA.
  • Maintain discipline by ensuring punctuality and adherence to rules.
  • Train and mentor new team members, particularly on sectional procedures.
  • Use ERP software (SAP) for record-keeping and timely activity updates.
  • Ensure observance of safety measures.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Possess knowledge related to power plant operations, particularly in Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine systems.
  • Demonstrate in-depth theoretical and practical understanding of field instrumentation.
  • Have functional knowledge of control systems and DCS, with strong proficiency in I&C troubleshooting.
  • Be proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and CMMS/SAP.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A DAE Electronics / Electrical / Instrumentation degree or B. Tech Electronics / Electrical / Instrumentation degree with 10 years of relevant professional experience or 8 years of relevant professional experience, respectively.
