Character Animation Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Character Animator to join our team at Trio Animation. As a key member of our animation department, you will be responsible for bringing characters and objects to life through motion, gestures, and expressions.

Our ideal candidate has a passion for animation and a keen eye for detail. You will work closely with our animation lead and supervisor to produce high-quality animation that fits within the style and pacing of our films.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the animation lead and supervisor to create compelling animation moments
  • Work with rigging and pipeline departments to improve character setup and visual quality
  • Animate primary and secondary characters and elements
  • Maintain schedules and show deadlines
  • Communicate effectively with production and lead regarding schedules and deadlines
  • Support the lead in mentoring and training junior artists
  • Work efficiently as part of a team or independently to complete assigned shots
  • Submit shots for review and follow through on feedback
  • Stay up-to-date with new tools, software, data, and technology
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Thorough knowledge of Maya
  • Understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form
  • Knowledge of rigs, animation pipelines, and data transfer between tools
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Open to direction and adaptable to change
  • Attention to detail
  • Reliable with good time keeping and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrable commitment to creative collaboration
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new processes and technical skills
  • Working knowledge of modeling, rigging, and Mel/Python scripting
  • Knowledge of human and animal anatomy and life drawing skills
