Accounting Analyst - Cost Control
This role is ideal for an analytical individual who can effectively manage and analyze financial data to optimize business operations. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for gathering and analyzing data that impacts business decisions. Key responsibilities include:
Data Analysis & Collection (20%)
* Analyzing product design changes, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services to assess their impact on costs
* Maintaining the cost accounting system and generating insightful reports
* Recording actual costs versus standards to facilitate better expenditure control
Cost Monitoring & Reporting (20%)
* Conducting inventory audits and overseeing cycle count programs
* Reconciling finished goods and analyzing cost variances
* Establishing cost standards for materials and labor
Inventory Cost Management (20%)
* Tracking and reconciling raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods stock
* Coordinating physical counts and cycle counts in a warehouse to ensure inventory accuracy
Month-End & Year-End Close Support (20%)
* Assisting in closing the general ledger
* Examining production costs and supporting budget forecasts
* Comparing past data for improved future projections
Strategic Cost Improvements (20%)
* Recommending and implementing cost-saving strategies
* Driving process improvements and identifying operational opportunities
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to address performance gaps

Qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • At least 2 years of experience in Cost Accounting within a manufacturing or operations environment
  • Strong knowledge of cost systems and excellent analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Outlook and Word
  • Experience with MAPICS or similar manufacturing/production accounting software is beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical teams
  • Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on the development and analysis of cost standards
  • Proven ability to prepare accurate and timely financial reports
