Job Title: Technical Director Nutrition And Food Fortification

The role of Technical Director Nutrition and Food Fortification is a high-level leadership position that oversees the design and implementation of key technical components for a national food fortification program.

As the foremost technical leader, you will provide strategic guidance on all nutrition and food fortification technical components, including advocacy, quality control, and assurance for food safety.

This role also involves serving as Deputy Team Leader on the program, supporting the Team Leader in ensuring effective implementation and achievement of program objectives and milestones. Additionally, you will take on a backstopping role when the Team Leader is absent.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level leadership to the design and implementation of key technical components for the national food fortification program.
  • Lead all nutrition and food fortification technical components, including advocacy, public and private sector quality control, and assurance for food safety.
  • Serve as Deputy Team Leader on the program and support the Team Leader in ensuring effective implementation and achievement of program objectives and milestones.
  • Take on a backstopping role when the Team Leader is absent.

Requirements:
  1. Relevant post-graduate technical degree; PhD preferred.
  2. A minimum of 15 years' experience in public health/nutrition/fortification.
  3. At least 5 years spent working specifically on food fortification; experience fortifying wheat flour and oil/ghee a distinct advantage.
  4. Proven technical leadership and ability to manage and lead people and teams effectively.
  5. Previous successful senior management experience with a large health/nutrition/private sector program an added advantage.
  6. Experience developing and implementing under-nutrition strategies and planning initiatives for food fortification interventions.
  7. Experience working with regulatory bodies for food security and quality control.
  8. Experience working in challenging/security risk environments.
