Hostel Manager

The role of the Hostel Warden is multifaceted, encompassing pastoral care and intellectual guidance for residents. The warden deals with problems that arise, provides stability, and serves as a source of advice for those in difficulty.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining an attendance register, planning facility upgrades, ensuring discipline, and acting as custodian of hostel properties.

• Maintain an attendance register and verify the attendance of all residents at a notified time.
• Plan for the upgradation of facilities in the hostels.
• Ensure maintenance of discipline in and around the hostel.
• Act as custodian and in-charge of all the hostel properties and verify the stock periodically.

The warden is also responsible for developing a timetable for various activities, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, sports, TV, and study time. They must maintain common rooms with TV, newspapers, and periodicals, make arrangements for indoor games, and provide practical help to students with basic life skills.

The warden ensures that hostel rules are followed in letter and spirit and assigns and coordinates work of domestic staff in the hostel. Leave passes for students are signed after proper verification from student records.

A key aspect of this role is promoting personal growth and development among students, with a focus on knowledge, integrity, and social perspective. This involves constructing a resident hostel curriculum that teaches respect, altruism, aspiration, persistence, empathy, and leadership.

The warden must create an environment where students come together and differences are respected, creating an educational living environment free from disputes. Students are encouraged to organize a mess committee to monitor the functioning of the mess, including purchases and supplies.
