Project Coordinator: Education Sector

The selected candidate will oversee the implementation of projects aimed at enhancing education sector coordination in Balochistan, Pakistan. This involves strategic planning, monitoring, and evaluation to ensure timely delivery of outputs and results.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate with provincial government counterparts, development partners, UN agencies, and local implementing partners to align project activities with the strategic objectives of the Balochistan Education Sector Plan.
  2. Participate in Local Education Group (LEG) meetings, ensuring inclusive participation and providing expert technical support through comprehensive planning and coordination.
  3. Foster collaboration between the School Education Department and other relevant provincial departments to address systemic challenges impacting education sector coordination.
  4. Liaise closely with Grant Agents (UNICEF and World Bank) to synchronize project activities, align with provincial priorities, and avoid duplication or overlaps.
  5. Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of project activities, ensuring progress aligns with objectives.
  6. Represent UNESCO in UN Provincial Programme Team meetings, School Education Department forums, and other relevant provincial platforms.
  7. Maintain close liaison with the UNESCO Education Team, international experts, and consultants, providing regular updates and feedback on provincial developments, programmes, and priorities.
  8. Manage project activities in the province, ensuring timely consolidation of project documents and reports.
  9. Coordinate field missions, meetings with provincial stakeholders, and visits by UNESCO personnel, international experts, and consultants to monitor implementation progress.
  10. Assess and analyse priority needs in the education sector for resource mobilization and partnership building.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced university degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in project planning, implementation, management, and coordination within the education sector.
  • Experience collaborating with government agencies, international organizations, UN agencies, or other key stakeholders in the education sector.
  • Comprehensive expertise across the project lifecycle, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
