Job Summary

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a medical officer as part of the clinical services provision team. She will be the focal point for the provision of sexual and reproductive health services as outlined below.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Provide outpatient consultation services at services delivery points under the direction & supervision of medical officers for sexual and reproductive health services.
  • Take histories, examine patients, identify risk factors, and conduct basic tests based on global standards for clinical care of pregnant and delivering women during ANC and PNC.
  • Presume treatment or refer patients for gynecological conditions under the supervision of a medical officer.
  • Carry out nutritional assessments of women and children and refer malnourished children and women to partner organizations for further treatment/provision of food supplements and keep proper records.
  • Handle/manage baby deliveries under supervision of lady doctors only when well-equipped facilities and services are available.
  • Assist neonatal resuscitation activities in case BEmONC and CEmONC services are provided at the facility and only under the supervision of qualified medical doctors.
  • Conduct sexual and reproductive health education and counseling of women, either individually or in groups at clinics and at field levels with a focus on family planning, danger signs during pregnancy, ANC/PNC, exclusive breastfeeding, skilled deliveries, balanced/weaning diets, and vaccination.
  • Ensure TT vaccinations for women of childbearing age and children through appropriate referrals to relevant departments.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping of ANC/PNC registers and cards, FP registers, OPD registers, and any MHNIS tools related to maternal and child health units.
  • Adhere to and practice universal precautions for IPC during clinical care and promote such practices.
  • Ensure timely referrals of any complicated cases encountered at the point of care without delay based on international SRH clinical standards.
  • Provide CMR/IPV services at service delivery points under the supervision of lady doctors and in cases where proper training is received and needed PEP kits and supplies are available.
  • Provide and submit weekly reports of activities/patients based on set processes and protocols.
  • Participate in review and planning meetings as part of the health team.
  • Coordinate with other team members of facilities and offices related to the provision of services.
