
Medical Commodities Coordinator

The role of Medical Commodities Specialist is to support the mission medical commodities manager in coordinating and tracking medical commodities distribution at supported health facilities. This involves managing all necessary communications and documentation required for transporting pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities to field site delivery points.
This position also requires coaching and guiding medical officers and program officers, as well as undertaking capacity building of office medical program and support staff through on-the-job training and use of standard quality assurance tools.
Main Responsibilities include:
- Review and Prepare Monthly Distribution Plan: Review and prepare monthly pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities supply distribution plan, update as needed, and ensure that it is clearly communicated to concerned parties.
- Prepare Shipment Documents: Prepare shipment documents, follow through to collect signatures, and finalize for record keeping.
- Compile Data and Submit Reports: Compile data and submit timely reports including weekly and monthly commodities distribution reports.
- Collaborate with Warehouse and Logistics Teams: Collaborate with the warehouse and logistics teams at project sites to ensure accuracy of documentation and timely deliveries to health facilities.
- Work with Field Medical Officers: Work with field medical officers and health facility directors to get feedback, requests, and delivery confirmations for all pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities.
- Track and Record Consumption Reports: Track and record monthly consumption reports.
- Analyze Reports Results: Analyze reports' results with the medical commodities manager; determine and customize supply of pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities based on actual needs of health facilities.
- Provide Training and Coaching: Provide on-the-job training and coaching to medical/program officers in the assigned medical office.
- Adhere to Ethical Principles: Adhere to internationally accepted humanitarian principles.
In order to be successful in this role, one should possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent: Typically, a Bachelor's degree in a related area. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
- Relevant Experience: Typically, 3+ years of relevant experience working with pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities.
- Experience with Medical Procurements: Experience with ordering and tracking medical procurements.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Ability to analyze and interpret data and to track performance against program indicators.
- Language Skills: Fluency in oral and written English required. Fluency in national & local languages preferred.
- Communication and Organizational Skills: Good oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership and Guidance Skills: Ability to work effectively with people from different cultures. Ability to guide, supervise, coach and train others.
- Microsoft Office Skills: Skilled in Microsoft Office especially Excel and Word.
