Job Title: Environmental and Social Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental and Social Manager to join our team.

  • The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences or a related field, with certification in Health & Safety.
About the Job

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to oversee the environmental and social performance of our operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations, implementing our Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP), and monitoring performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, including those set by OSHAS, project Lenders, and the Government of AJK.
  2. Implement the ESAP and monitor its effectiveness.
  3. Conduct on-site environmental and safety inspections quarterly to identify corrective actions and follow up on assessments.
  4. Prepare and submit project permit applications and renewals to relevant authorities as required.
  5. Liaise with stakeholders to provide information on project performance.
  6. Monitor and support the implementation of our Corporate Social Responsibility commitments and livelihood restoration commitments for project-affected people.
  7. Ensure Operations Contractor, subcontractors, and service providers comply with MIGA and Lenders' requirements on labor and working conditions.
  8. Liaise with third-party E&S monitoring consultants and construction contractors to ensure effectiveness of the project's emergency preparedness and response plan.
  9. Support/lead incident and grievance investigations according to project procedure.
  10. Oversee studies and preparation of plans, review and update Environmental and Social Management Plans during the operations stage.
  11. Carry out ESHS management training and capacity building, including ESMS implementation training.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences or a related field.
  • Certification in Health & Safety.
  • Strong understanding of environmental and social regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
